The EISCAT measurements are indispensable for this campaign, because it can give information on the three-dimensional ion drift as well as the plasma parameters. The derived lower thermospheric wind velocities will be used to discuss the lower thermospheric dynamics. It is also unique that the EISCAT radar can provide a long-term trend of the above parameters over the radar site, which is very important for the interpretation of the long-lived phenomena in the thermosphere such as the atmospheric tide.
